DIY: Braided Bead Bracelet

Tutorial Tuesday!

I love making jewelry and I came up with my own twist on the classic "friendship bracelet". The supplies you'll need are:
  1. Three lengths of ribbon (don't skimp! They need to be long! You can get a spool of it at Wal*Mart for 45 cents)
  2. Scissors
  3. Ring mandrel or a brush handle, something to tie your ribbon onto.
  4. Beads, these beads need to have a wide hole to put the ribbon through.
  5. I have a pair of needle nose pliers pictured, these aren't really necessary, but sometimes you need something to help push the ribbon through the bead.

Tie your ribbon (double knot!) to the mandrel. This hole will later become what you put your button through for a clasp.

Now, since you've double knotted your ribbon, there are two sections of ribbon, each having three pieces of ribbon. Start a braid in each section

The two pieces of ribbon that end up in the middle after the first braid: put a bead on it!

Keep on repeating that, braid each section once, and then put a bead on the two that end up in the middle.

When you get to the length that will fit around your wrist, seperate the two sections and double knot them again tie on a button and put it on!

An extra step! You don't have to do this step, but I do it just for assurance: Using hot glue or nail glue, just dab a little on your knots on each end, and the ends of the ribbon so it doesn't unravel.

GIVEAWAY #2: I can make the bracelet in any color with any color beads! Comment below telling me what you would want! I will pick a winner on Friday morning!
