Friday's Favorite Things

Here are a few of my favorite things from around my bedroom this week.

I got this card from a little boy in a third grade class I was interning in for a few weeks my senior year in high school back in 2009. He was a very sweet kid, but he had kind of a rough life, I didn't think I had that great of an impact on him until the kids all gave me goodbye cards on my last day and his read: "your the best! I hope it did not hrut when you cam done frum heven." And, yes, that is exactly how he spelled it. I put the card in a frame and hung it up in my room.

Next is my monogrammed blanket that's on the foot of my bed. It's a deep purple and I love how my sister used buttons to make the initial. She made these for my parents and my other sister a few years ago for Christmas, that year was a little tight on money for us, and we all made stuff like this.

I made this print in my art class in high school and I still love it every bit as much as I did then. We used wooden or rubber blocks to carve out a form, which is the colored part in the back. We printed them on paper, then we carved a few more details out and printed black over it. It sounds more complicated than it was.

And last but certainly not least, my necklace mannequin. My sister got it for me for this past Christmas, and I believe she got it from Pier 1. I love classic mannequins with just the body part, none of the creepy faces or extremities. This one just happens to hold my jewelry.

Happy Friday!
